I love the new comic-ized eighth season of Buffy, but I think I’m going to have to give it to Y: The Last Man. I’m a sucker for ‘last man on Earth’ stories and Vaughan have us (with the help of Guerra’s solid visuals) some really really great issues.

It doesn’t have a shot in this incredible field, but “Monster” is a terrific series, too–I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to any comics fan, even if they’re not into the whole manga thing.

I couldn’t agree more. Looking over some of these nominee fields, I can’t imagine how they’re going to pick just one to give the award to.
I keep waffling here between what Vaughan has accomplished with Y, with Whedon’s vision with Buffy, and with Ennis’s The Boys concept (I loved Preacher).
I’m leaning to Vaughan, but boy oh boy, I wouldn’t want to have to make the choice myself.

I think this is BKV’s year–Y: The Last Man is just an iconic series. But in a field that also boasts Garth Ennis, The Spirit, and Joss Whedon, anything can happen.
