Thor: The Iron Man Treatment

With the recent success of Marvel Studios adapting their comic book franchises into live-action movies, most notably The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man, Marvel now has set its sights on Thor—and reportedly might be close to choosing great director!
Variety.com has announced Kenneth Branagh, award-winning United Kingdom actor and director of Henry V, Frankenstein, Much Ado About Nothing, and Hamlet, is now in talks with Marvel to helm the director’s chair and bring the Asgardian god to life. Branagh is a talented individual with diverse interests; he has acted, directed, written screenplays and composed music for many of his films. With the exception of Frankenstein, has never been given a big budget.
Well, that will change with Thor. At least us fanboys hope so.
If Branagh can pull off the origin and story of Thor, Marvel Studios would have a string of strong movies built on substance rather than just special effects. Apparently the script for Thor, written by Mark Protosevich, is fantastic and with money being pumped into this movie it could really be something special in the capable hands of Branagh. If put into production, Thor will be released in 2010.
Is it only a matter of time before the Avengers are assembled on the silver screen…? Stay tuned, true believer!
