Hooked on Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse

I know, I know. I’m hideously late in the game with regards to Dollhouse. I was hesitant to commit after the tragedy that was Firefly. I didn’t want to be sucked in and then disappointed again when Fox pulled it off the air.
But once I heard that the second season was greenlit (and after asking my friends’ opinions on the show), I decided to give it a shot.

I went to Hulu one slow Saturday afternoon and was dismayed to see that they only had the last 5 episodes. But I went for it anyway, watching episode 8 – “Needs”.
Whoo boy. I thought that knowing the basic premise of the show (people agree to have their brains wiped and imprinted with other personalities according to the clients’ needs) would be enough. And it was, but I was left with tons of questions. So despite my friend’s advice that the 1st six episodes weren’t that good, I started from the beginning.
This show really has a lot of the elements I love – strong central female characters, action, new personalities/cases every week (very much like a spy show in that way – Alias, anyone?), big overarching mysteries… what can I say? I’m a sucker for these things.
I really liked Episodes 1-4. I can see where people might complain that they weren’t “Whedon-esque” enough – they definitely lacked a certain sense of humor – I still found them thought-provoking and interesting. So interesting that I can barely fall asleep after. That’s right. There’s a quote for you – “so interesting that it’s sleep-depriving.”
Anyway, I’m eager for disc 2 to arrive from Netflix. I’d really recommend you all giving it a shot before the premiere of season 2 on Sept. 25th 9/8c on Fox. Let’s support good original TV! Hey, it’s gotta be better than another episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, right?

There’s a fan-organized thing called Double Dollhouse Fridays. They’re watching two episodes each friday (since that’s when it airs on the network). Last friday was the first two epsiodes, so you’re a little ahead of the game, but the way it works is you’ll finish with epitaph one on the night of the season two premiere.
I liked the first 5 eps when they aired, but 2 is the only one I really enjoyed upon rewatch. There are a bunch of the Buffy season one eps I feel the same way about, but I love the rest of the series, so it doesn’t worry me too much that those first ones aren’t perfect, but a lot of people skipped out because of them

Oh that’s great! Yeah, I definitely can’t wait for Friday to watch all of them – I’m trying not to gobble ‘em up too quick but it’s hard when they really draw me in!
I’m not sure about how they’ll be on re-watch but on initial viewing, I’m definitely into it. I can see potential rewatches, just to see if there were any clues that I missed the first time around though.

What?? They’re playing two episodes on Fox every Friday?? Noo I can’t believe I missed the first two episodes!! I really need to find them somewhere online. Any ideas? I tried Surf the Channel but that epically failed cause I wasn’t in the right region for the video to play. Should I just join Netflix?

@Meesh226: Really? I use Surf the Channel all the time and I rarely have trouble with the Megavideo links. Are you outside of the U.S.?
