It appears Avatar is ramping up for its December 18th release!
James Cameron appeared on 60 Minutes last night, discussing his new science fiction and fantasy film, Avatar. The interview was quite interesting, Cameron talking about his career, his previous movies, and his $400+ million dollar movie as “the movie he always had set out to make.” The director of such great films as Terminator, Terminator: Judgment Day, Aliens, True Lies, and of course Titanic allowed video footage of his behind the scenes directing to be used in the interview, as well as glimpses of how the CGI of Avatar came to be.
He has only had one day off in twelve weeks. That is impressive and shows the level of passion he has for Avatar. It is a project he has had in his head for more than a decade.
I hope that passion shows up on the screen in the form of a solid story.
Movie goers will get to decide if they wish to see it in 2-D or 3-D. I have watched 16 minutes of the 3-D and it felt all too real. I am curious to see if people can suspect their disbelief enough to embrace the 3000 CGI screen shots in the film, or if people will lambaste Cameron for his effort to push the technology to its limit.
We will know in less than a month.

60 Minutes also filmed more footage than they used in their Avatar segment. To view additional bonus scenes from the interview, click HERE!
I am sure this is only the beginning. James Cameron is going to be all over the place in the coming weeks, as I am sure his stars will be.
Avatar hits theaters on December 18th.
Got your tickets yet? Better get em fast!
Because there won’t be many seats available when that weekend opens!
