the series creator
Back in 2001, I had a chance encounter with my childhood lunch lady. She told me about her grandkids and it blew my mind–my lunch lady had kids? Who then went on to have more kids?! The shock led me to wonder about the secret lives of lunch ladies. After a few false starts and some rummaging through childhood comics, I came to the conclusion that I would write a graphic novel series about a lunch lady who fought crime. I took inspiration from James Bond, Inspector Gadget, Adam West’s Batman and the simplicity and directness of the comics that I was writing in 5th grade. The third installment in the Lunch Lady series, Lunch Lady and the Author Visit Vendetta, has just been released and I am right now editing the fifth book and writing the sixth book.
Here is a paper doll of Lunch Lady. She’s a woman of many disguises. And she carries with her an arsenal of spy equipment which upon first glance–looks like ordinary cafeteria paraphernalia. Enjoy sending Lunch Lady on your own quests to serve up justice and lunch!
