365 Days of Manga, Day 116: Little Crybaby

LITTLE CRYBABY (Nakimushi na Little, “Little Crybaby”) (泣き虫なリトル) • Keiko Kinoshita • DMP (2007) • Taiyou Tosho (2004) • 1 volume • Yaoi • 16+ (sexual situations)
Never has a manga been so aptly named. Little Crybaby’s pages are filled to the brim with panel after panel of young men weeping uncontrollably. Most of the stories are fairly bland although they get a bit stronger at the end of the volume, the most memorable being the last tale “Flower Boys,” a short, sweet to the point comic about a depressed young man and an aspiring magician. The art is decent but at times seems barely there due to Kinoshita’s light sketchy lines. All in all, a forgettable book. (Review by Leia Weathington)
