Looking Forward to 2010: Books!

The Passage.jpgTHE PASSAGE by Justin Cronin
This novel won’t release until June, but it’s already one of the most buzzed about novels in 2010. Case in point: Stephen King plugged the book in Entertainment Weekly last month. With the rights already sold in twenty-one countries, plus a movie in the works with Ridley Scott directing, this book is set up to be a blockbuster! –DavidM
Horns by Hill.jpg HORNS by Joe Hill
Just the thought of a new novel by the author of the terrifying Heart-Shaped Box has us drooling. And Horns sounds like a doozy — a supernatural dark thriller centering around vengeance, lost love, power, and a terrible hangover. With a release date on February 9th, this seems like the perfect anti-Valentine’s Day read. -Matt
THE ESSENTIAL WONDER WOMAN ENCYCLOPEDIA Written by Phil Jimenez and John Wells
The Essential Wonder Woman Encyclopedia.jpg
This is a MUST have for every Wonder Woman fan out there. April can’t come soon enough for me flip through 496 pages of amazing art of my favorite female superhero. -Camille

THE EXILE
by Diana Gabaldon
It’s so hard just to choose one book I’m excited about–there are a bunch coming in 2010 that I’m looking forward to, like Elizabeth Moon’s return to writing fantasy, Oath of Fealty, which takes us back to the world of The Deed of Paksenarrion! And I love, love, love Naomi Novik’s sixth novel in the Temeraire series, Tongues of Serpents. But the prettiest book I’m working on is definitely The Exile, an original Outlander story in graphic novel form, written by Diana Gabaldon with gorgeous full-color artwork by Hoang Nguyen. Here’s just one example of the gorgeous four-color art. The Exile goes on sale September 28. -Betsy
THE MAKING OF STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
J.W. Rinzler
Making of Empire Strikes Back.jpgThe follow up to the lavish oversized hardcover The Making of Star Wars. Author J.W. Rinzler picks up right where he left off and takes us behind the scenes as creator George Lucas endeavors to produce one of the greatest and most successful film sequels of all time. Featuring close to 1500 images, many rarely seen or never seen before, and interviews and insight from cast and crew this book is sure to please film buffs and Star Wars fans alike. I’ve been working on this with the author for over a year now and I eagerly await holding the finished book in my hands. On sale July 20, 2010. -Darth Duff
terry signing LR.JPGBEARERS OF THE BLACK STAFF
by Terry Brooks
This is the book I am truly excited about, but not because I will get to read it. As Terry’s webmaster and friend, I already have. No, I am excited for the release of Bearers of the Black Staff because I can’t wait to see how Terry’s fans react to it. Set 500 years after the events of The Gypsy Morph, Black Staff is the first book of a two-book set that continues his bridging of the Word/Void series with that of the Shannara series. It has two of my favorite Terry Brooks characters ever and the literary significance of one of the story’s subtexts is simply great writing–and is going to piss off a lot of people. Since I love discussion, this is the 2010 book for me! -Shawn

I love Wonder Woman–I grew up watching the TV show and Justice League. She was always one of my favorite. I always wondered what would happen if she was a hair to slow or injured that she couldn’t get her bracelets up fast enough. Love the outfit still. Linda Carter was awesome as Wonder woman. Now to find out where I can get some older issues…

  2. Looking forward to Horns!
