Bullshot – A Penny Arcade Vocabulary Lesson

When Del Rey put together The Splendid Magic of Penny Arcade: The 11 ½ Anniversary Edition, we asked fans for questions they were dying to ask Penny Arcade creators Mike and Jerry. Out of the thousands submitted (thanks, guys!) we were able to include a good number of questions, including the following stumper (excerpted from Splendid Magic)

If you could ask one question of your readers, what would it be?
M: Oooh, that’s an interesting one!
J: Yeah it is!
[long pause]
J: I would ask if we had created any language that had been useful to them. I mean, I think of myself as sort of like a tinkerer, right?
M: Yeah.
J: I put together little phrases and things. I just put them out there, and I hope that they use them. My curiosity would be, “Has any of this errant language entered your social circle? Is there anything from Penny Arcade, as a language tool, that has been of use?”
M: That was a good one.
J: Well, that was my only interest.
M: Yeah. Uh…
J: A/S/L?
M: [laughs] A/S/L. I don’t know what I would ask. That question is too much for me.
