How we think the fight will go

Dumbledore apparates to a vast meadow with mountains in the distance and not a soul to be seen…. Though he believes the foe he is seeking no longer has a soul. He is no novice when it comes to traveling to other realms. It’s just a hop, skip, and a very long jump, after which his head tingles a bit. A few sips of pumpkin juice will help. Coming to Krynn to battle Raistlin Majere was a necessity, though, since inviting him to enter the realm of Earth would be a serious danger to muggles and the wizarding world alike… not to mention the worrisome prospect of Majere teaming up with Voldemort.

He sees a spot in the sky, as Raistlin Majere swoops in on a very large, green dragon. The beast lowers it’s head to the ground and Raistlin climbs down and walks towards the wizard. The dragon flies off.

“I respect you for your power,” says Raistlin to Dumbledore, “but you are no match for one who has been tested in the Tower and survived. I defeated Fistandantilus. I can defeat you.”

“Perhaps. Grindelwald wasn’t exactly a pushover, and I did fairly well in my N.E.W.T.s, I must say. But we will see.” He pauses for a moment. “I do wish to return to Hogwarts as soon as possible, though. I left a cup of hot cocoa to cool a bit, and I’d rather it not get cold.”

“As you wish, wizard,” and Raistlin whispers kalith karan, tobanis-kar, causing a magic missile to fly from the Staff of Magius towards Dumbledore. But Dumbledore is no longer where he was. Using his ability to make himself invisible, he slips away from the missile and reappears further uphill. Raistlin uses the moment to speak the complicated spell, and bolts of lightening flash from his staff to strike the old man. Dumbledore is jolted fifty feet in the air, but a quick “levicorpus” spell allows him to float down.

Dumbledore, spinning his wand in circles, summons the power of the wind around him, creating a dark tornado that appears over the ridge and swallows Raistlin. His black robes tearing and debris slamming his frail body, Raistlin is thrown to the ground as Dumbledore yells Petrificus totalus! But Raistlin deflects the spell, though the powerful whallop knocks the staff from his hands.

Raistlin pulls out an orb and begins to speak to it, summoning Cyan Bloodbane back to his defense.

“Cheating will not be tolerated,” says Dumbledore, as his expelliarmus spell sends the orb flying from Raistlin’s hands. Majere crawls towards his lost staff as Dumbledore attempts to cast a slow spell, but Albus has no idea that Raistlin–a master of past and present–is immune to such a spell. Raistlin recognizes the spell and fakes the effects while quickly casting a mirage spell. Dumbledore sees movement out of the corner of his eye, and there on the field is Harry Potter, a knife held to his throat by a lizard-like man. In the instant of Dumbledore’s worry over his “chosen one,” Raistlin stands and screams his incantation, hurling a fireball at the illusion of Harry. Dumbledore launches himself towards the fireball and takes the direct blow to save the boy who lived… and Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore’s ashes fall to the ground.

Predicted Winner: Raistlin Majere

(Raistlin is a character from Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman’s (and Wizard of the Coast’s) Dragonlance series; Albus Dumbledore is a character from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series,)

  1. tsur says:

about the magic misles-dumbeldore can make a shield before the battle.hes not that of an idiot not to predict it…
one that, for example, lites on when sensing magic missles.
not a problem for dambledore-not much harder then an age line…
and again-he can play with raistlins maind from inside and make him mad(in this case sane)…
he can also make him forget everythingthose magics dosent even require a wond..
he would do that wile fighting and raistlin would be up against the cornerdriving most of his powers against himself.
by the way,by the way suvudu-albus himself is in a way a master of past and preasent…
he can slow time and slow even raistlin down.
he is also immune to illusions thou to hes perfect control over mind-the onley time somone tricked him was when he have CHOSEN to drink the liquid in the 6 book.and then he told harry what to do in this case-he understood the illusion perfectly even then-and was lucid enough to protect harry in a secont!
he could also look into the Mirror of Erised without going mad.
and he nasters himself fully at death-unlike the old rings deads and the illutions of murdured peuple at the 4 book,so he has no problem eith dimentions of illution.i wont be surpriesed if he creates them.in fact, harry potter characters can actively go into theyre memories and expirience the diferent.theyre dealing with thoes things all the time…

  2. Kyle says:

Raistlin wins because his fans can actually spell.

  3. Raven says:

I’m pretty sure someone is just spamming votes for Dumbledore. Just saying, I checked it once, then checked it five minutes later…votes for Dumbledore had increased by about 20. Then, while simply refreshing the page…Dumbledore’s vote count was increasing by 1 each time my page loaded. Sorry, but I don’t think there’s one new person visiting this site every five seconds. Someone’s breaking the rules…

  4. CezeN says:

Dude, tsur, your horrible spelling is making me wish I voted for Raistlin.
I guess the theory is that if no one can read your argument, no one can make an argument against it – thus you automatically win?

  5. Tal says:

Holy crap. A difference of nine votes? NINE votes?!
Wow…I think that’s the record so far.

  6. tsur says:

im bad at spelling becous of my Learning disability.my main languige is hebrew-not a halpful thing.
im trying to convince peple-”auotomatical win” will be a bad choice.in this case i wouldnt bother saying this.
i do have good arguments and am understending what im talking about, with a not-too-bad-wording.
if that what makes the difference for you-i dont want you on my side.
    want to be helpful?
then read, understand and analyze.then come back with something good to say.something that will go for the caus and hit the true enemy.something with good intention and breliant mind setting.dont wast rourself on worthless replies like that one.

  7. Eric says:

If you are right, and I can easily believe that to be possible, then I hope there is a way to check and invalidate any spammed votes.

  8. Bill says:

    /quit

  9. Rhappie says:

Well, at least now I don’t have to worry about who I’m voting for next round. (Kvothe)

  10. Josh says:

Dumbledore winning is a travesty. No matter how I looked at it, I could not see a single way that Dumbledore could feasibly win. The Jaime Lannister v. Cuthulu and Kvothe v. Aslan fights at least left a theoretical way open for their underdog victories. This was a simple case of Dumbledore being outmatched. I will now vote against Dumbeldore regardless of who he is facing.

  11. Andhaka says:

Harry Potter… the death of modern fantasy.
    .
I cannot believe someone actually voted for that old fart of Dumb-el-Door.
    .
And they are also voting against Polgara in the other match!! This is a sad day for fantasy.

  12. tsur says:

you simpley dint know how to lose.
    just like tour raistlin.
you vote out of passion, envy and revenge but unlike him without reason.
its not logic raistlin will win,so metter how strong he is.we gave you the reasons.

  13. Tal says:

Whoa whoa…hold on there, kiddo. What exactly are the Dragonlance books supposed to be, great literature, xD? I mean, they’re fun, don’t get me wrong, but they kind of are the bottom of the literary barrel. In terms of writing quality, Dragonlance makes HP look like a timeless classic. Hell, by comparison even the Legend of Drizzt ends up looking like freaking Anna Karenina, xD

  14. Patrick C says:

    This result makes me sad.

  15. Eric says:

I have lost all confidence in this cage match. Raistlin, Polgara, Aslan, and Cthulhu all losing. It’s a sad day for objectivity.

  16. tsur says:

and yet raistlin is an epic characterwith an honorable plase.
i just think the compatition must relay over abilities, not titles.
i think dumbeldor can use his mind manipulation and personal magic with ganeral corcery to defeat him.
again-if not him,ged has a good relative power against raistlin for his naming magic abulities, drowing the godly powers out(thou ged himself is to weak to use the situation)-and cthulhu,if would have made if to the next stage’would have tousted his dark mind.
    the best oponent against raistlin-dumbeldore.

  17. tsur says:

if objectivity is not to justify your clames-a sad day.
if objactivity is being shallow and empty-a sad day.
if an objective person is someone hwo can think outside the box and finds the most likely scenario?
    a very happy day indead.

  18. Michael24 says:

You mean to tell me there were 290 extra votes for Dimblefoot in the last 20 minutes of this contest? Embarrassing.
What little faith I had in mankind just vanished….
(i know its just a silly contest and I’m not really bent….that much, lol)

  19. tsur says:

at the last minutes i published the contest on some harry potter forums, english and hebrew ones alike.

  20. Lord FlashHeart says:

tsur, you really are a dork.

  21. lakesidey says:

Well, *most* of his fans can spell. “Spelling” is an important part of graduating from Hogwarts after all! Perhaps we have Crabbe or Goyle in our midst – notoriously bad spellers both?
Or more likely, he’s Vlad Taltos in disguise – he’s carrying spellbreaker, which is why the spelling is all broken!

  22. lakesidey says:

Well, *most* of his fans can spell. It’s practically a requirement to graduate from Hogwarts after all! Perhaps we have a few Crabbes or Goyles in our midst, notoriously bad spellers both…
Or perhaps we have Vlad Taltos with us, trying to avenge his first round defeat….He carries spell-breaker, stands to reason his spelling is broken something awful ;)

  23. lakesidey says:

Sorry for the double post….first one didn’t appear for 10 minutes after posting so I thought it hadn’t gone and re-posted! My bad :P

  24. A says:

So, does anyone else think that so many of the matches this round are rigged. I mean I like Dumbledore as a character, but there is no way he would be able to survive a match agenst Rastlin. There are other matches that I don’t agree with either. Starting to think some people are spam voting.

  25. Sarat says:

This is just plain wrong. I’m tempted to think most of Dumbly’s votes are from people who haven’t even heard of Raist. And that’s simple bigotry.

  26. Elennim says:

    OMG… Raistlin… has lost?
I can’t believe it. Sarat, I agree with you.

  27. Shadow'sBane says:

    you are absolutely right.
but even after knowing raistlin i did vote for cumble dore because there s no chance that he would loose to raistlin , the spell like “levicorpus”,”pertficus totalus” are hexes used by children do you really think the most greatest wizard would use these to fight some one like raistlin .
    what are you thinking……????

  28. Peter Jørgensen says:

    Bahhh, this result is ridicolous.
    Raistlin is so the winner.

  29. WaterDancer says:

I am neither a Raistlin fan nor a Dumbledor fan…however I need to point out , in chaos wars, Raistlin gets completely stripped of hsi powers by the gods, as well as teh fact that Takihis was the primary antagonist…so despite CARAMON’S belief…which is a warriors idea and a brothers , that Raistlin defeated Takhis, obviously he did not, he merely set himself as a power…which he then lost subsequently….and Dumbledor dies deliberately sacraficing himself.

  30. dpomerico says:

    And thus ends Raistlin’s run.
It was hard fought, but in the end, some Harry Potter fans came out and did their thing–sorry, Raistlin fans!
But stay tuned: Dumbledore battles Kvothe starting this Wednesday, and in the meantime, make sure to watch the video recap: http://bit.ly/aDmhZe
Also, make sure to vote on the beginning of Round 3, which just began:
    http://bit.ly/dCDWem

  31. Mich says:

Absolutely ridiculous! Characters featured in box office hits should be immediately disqualified from the matches.
Dumby would be too busy trying to convince Raist he’s really a good guy to even bother fighting.
