Teenage Akira has had a lifelong crush on his older stepbrother, Satoru, which is becoming problematic now that Satoru has started to attract the attention of girls. Akira is finally forced to face up to his feelings and his sexuality when he assists Kaoru, a sexy gay photographer. Meanwhile, a girl named Miyata sets her sights on Satoru and correctly deduces that Akira is her primary competition. The bold, dark linework and limpid-eyed characters look great, and Matsumoto pulls off some striking images: Akira scowling with sexual jealousy as he plays video games in his room, Miyata perched smugly above Akira with a crown floating over her head. The most memorable artistic detail, however, might have to be Satoru’s moist, colorless, thoroughly creepy eyes. The plot is a standard yaoi angst-fest, with no sex in the first volume (a pity, since all the characters but Satoru are hot). (Review by Shaenon Garrity)

Today’s winner is Ben L. of Maine. Congratulations, Ben!
Readers of 365 Days of Manga might have noticed that, recently, I’ve been posting a lot of yaoi and adult reviews, and a lot of reviews written by my collaborators on the book (such as today’s review by the great Shaenon Garrity). There’s a reason for this, and we’ll be getting back to more of my own reviews soon. Stay tuned for more information on the changes (and of course, more manga) soon!
