All Nippon Air Lines–ANAL for short–is a very special airline company staffed entirely by handsome, gay (or soon to be gay) men. One has a “miracle voice” which makes men climax when they hear it; another, the company director, insists on personally “trying out” all his employees; the cute steward has a fetish for bald guys; and there are special beefcake flights where macho guys with muscles do all the cabin service. Told in short episodes of about 4-12 pages, this crazy, lowbrow comedy embraces every giggling, immature yaoi possibility you can imagine, from the title double entendre to tasteful details like jokes about splashes of “milky white” Calpis Water. Sexy it’s not; funny it is. Though it gets a bit tiresome in large doses, it’s a refreshing antidote to the profusion of emo, serious Boy’s Love. (Entertainingly, the English edition is available with two different covers, one reading “All Nippon Air Line” and the other reading “ANAL.”)
