Kita and Naru, both homicide detectives and drinking buddies, are caught in a complex game with one another. The coldly possessive Kita gleefully indulges Naru’s constant desire to get sauced when he’s depressed in order to seduce him. And Naru? Well, Naru just can’t seem to stay on the wagon long enough to decide if he likes Kita’s sexual assaults. Occasionally the two of them actually manage to chase bad guys. Alcohol, Shirt and Kiss is well drawn with clear storytelling although the huge eyes of the uke characters can become a bit grating. The plot is slice-of-life and tends not to involve much other than Kita and Naru’s feelings for one another. Every now and then an overly dramatic and bloody scene with a criminal crops up, seemingly out of place with the manga’s usually humorous tone. (Review by Leia Weathington)
