It’s now May 2010.
Where does the time go?
We are almost halfway through this year and I can’t for the life of me remember why. Strange. I guess I’ve been reading too much, if there is such a problem. I’ve lost five months! I do know one thing though: why am I still wearing a parka in Seattle? Seriously. I’ve paid my taxes. Where’s my great weather?
No reason to be annoyed, I guess. Summer will pop up when I least expect it. Soon I’ll be crying about the heat!
I came here for a mission though. On to the post at hand. For May and the Free Library, Suvudu continues its fun collaboration with the Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine!
This month, we are showcasing The Crocodiles by Steven Popkes. For free. Yes, for free. It is a short story set in the Eastern Front period of World War II, where the Third Reich is attempting to create and control zombies that attack only Allies.
As if one can control a zombie. Ha!
F&SF editor Gordon Van Gelder has this to say about this story:
“Steven Popkes has been publishing short fiction for nearly thirty years. Among his most memorable tales are “The Egg,” “Tom Kelley’s Ghost,” and “The Ice.” (He says many of them will be available soon at Book View Cafe) His new story is not his most cheerful work, but it is among the most potent pieces of fiction that this editor has seen in a good while.”
If you are like me and you enjoy a great zombie story, The Crocodiles is for you! Click HERE to read it!
It brings new meaning to alternate history!
