2011 San Diego Comic-Con Tickets Are on Sale Toda…Oh, Nevermind

logo-comicconjpgAre you ready for Comic-Con 2011?! Seems like everyone is…well, everyone except Comic-Con itself, apparently. This time each year is a frenzy for purchasing the Con tickets. Already gone are the 4-day passes with preview night included. Next to go will be the straight-up 4-day passes. And we’ll go on from there until the Sunday-only passes—traditionally the last to be snatched up—are consumed.

Today was supposed to be the day the buying frenzy kicked off. But Comic-Con International has pulled an audible (or is this a false start?): The on-sale date has been moved and will be announced on Monday, November 8, 2010.

Comic-Con International has released a statement regarding the changed time and technical difficulties, saying:

We are really sorry for the problems with registration today. We do not know what the technical issues are, so we have temporarily closed registration.

We will announce on Monday November 8th the new date and time that registration will reopen. This down time will allow us to determine and address the issues.

Only a handful of badges were actually sold today.

Thank you for your patience, and again, we all are truly sorry for this inconvenience.

Another interesting tidbit: prices are up slightly. Four-day tickets are priced at $105 and single-day passes are up to $37. Still not bad, but worth noting.

Comic-Con International is already listing some of the guests slated to attend the 2011 Con and more information will continue to roll in between now and July 2011.

Who’s ready for next year’s San Diego Comic-Con?! Everyone is. And next week will prove it.

If you’re interested, here’s a run-down of the tickets and prices you’ll have available.

  1. although i dont think ticket prices are too bad, it’s just a crash on the website. probably reaching critical mass. comic con is much more popular to non-comic people these days and a lot of people want to be “seen” there.

  2. Will says:

It looks like they’re just announcing a new on-sale date on Nov. 8. Who knows what that date will be.

  3. Kyle M. says:

Good eye, Will. I’ve updated the article.

Yeah… weren’t the 4-day passes WITH Preview Night just $75 like, two years ago? I went in 2009 for that price and I’m still going to go in 2011, but really?!
