The Wise Man’s Fear, Book Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, has been officially 100% edited by Patrick Rothfuss and the book is now ready to enter the publication pipeline toward its March 1st, 2011 release!
All is right in the universe this Monday morning. I still have a giddy and greedy grin on my face.
This news is sure to delight many fantasy fans out there too. When Pat released his debut novel, The Name of the Wind, he took the genre by storm. The book is wonderfully written, has one of the most fully realized characters ever written in Kvothe, and garnered international and critical acclaim. Since that day, Pat’s fandom has grown and grown and, three years later, that fandom will finally get the sequel to The Name of the Wind.
The Wise Man’s Fear is now with the happy folks at DAW Books. Over the next few months they will lay out the book and prepare it for publication. Pat will still be working on the book in the form of page proofing and the like, but his creative part in the process is finished.
Then he has to get to work on The Doors of Stone, the third book in the series…
As an aside, Pat and I are going to do something fun for the release of The Wise Man’s Fear. Pat is launching his March 2011 tour in Seattle WA, where he will also be signing books via The Signed Page for those people around the world who can’t meet him on tour. $5 from each book sale will be going to the Heifer International, the charity of choice that Pat supports. In this way we support the author as well as others in the world less fortunate.
I like warm and fuzzies. I hope you do too!
Congratulations, Pat! More soon from you, I’m sure….

This is great news! Coincidentally, The Wise Man’s Fear is released on my birthday so I have TWO awesome things to look forward to in March…
I might have to reread The Name of the Wind since it’s been a few years… D:
I think we just might have to do some re-reading in January and February! Who is up for a re-read on Suvudu of The Name of the Wind?
