When William Faulkner Met H.P. Lovecraft: Mash ‘em up, Suvudu!

faulkner_picYesterday, while looking at the Quirk Classics line of mashup novels, I started thinking of how I might combine some of my own favorite science fiction, horror and fantasy authors with their high-brow literary cousins. It ended up being a fun exercise. First I chose a genre author: H.P. Lovecraft. Then I looked for my second author. I’m from Mississippi, so I didn’t have to look too far afield for a classic writer to subject to my fiendish literary experimentation: William Faulkner.

Here’s what I came up with:

Suggested Titles for a Series of H.P. Lovecraft and William Faulkner Mashup Novels:
The Case of Charles Dexter Snopes
The Sound and the Fury of Cthulhu?
As I Lay Dying at the Mountains of Madness
Absalom, Azathoth
Go Down, Nyarlathotep
The Shadow Over Yoknapatawpha
Intruder in the Shunned House
From Beyond the Mississippi River
Requiem for the Evil Clergyman
A Rose for The Thing on the Doorstep

Now I’m wondering, Suvudu readers, what you might come up with. Leave some of your own mashup ideas in the comment section below:
