On Friday, the New York Times published a review of Glen Duncan’s The Last Werewolf written by fellow horror alum, Justin Cronin, author of vampire epic The Passage.
Like Cronin rightly observes, werewolves have received short shrift in the realm of horror fiction with very few werewolf protagonists receiving the kind of name recognition that their vampire brethren have achieved. The Last Werewolf addresses this in high style. Any werewolf who begins his story with a line like “Two nights ago I’d eaten a 43-year-old hedge fund specialist. I’ve been in a phase of taken those no one wants.” is one I’d like to know better.
The Last Werewolf is available now.

When the local public radio station host, Kerri Miller, interviewed Cronin a few months ago, he taunted he that he was reading an advance copy of a “werewolf” book he was enjoying, but wouldn’t tell her what the book actually was.
It turns out it was this book, and Ms. Miller promptly grabbed the book, read it, and got him on the show not too long ago to talk about the book. She loved it.
