Rumor: HBO to Order Two More Season of ‘A Game of Thrones’?

A Game of Thrones fan site winter-is-coming.net is reporting a rumor that HBO is going to order two more seasons of their hit TV show, A Game of Thrones. According to the story, cast and crew filming in Northern Ireland have already been told to expect another nine months of filming next year.

While I’ve not received any confirmation regarding this rumor, I don’t find it out of the realm of the possible. For one thing, the show is doing really, really well. I know people who haven’t read George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire or even read fantasy in general who won’t miss an episode of the program, and those who have read the series already know that the later books would require more than a season of episodes each for a faithful adaptation.

Meanwhile, if you’re like me and just can’t wait until the new season to start, what better way to count down the days than with the A Song of Ice and Fire calendar, featuring fantasy artist John Picacio’s portrayal of characters and scenes from the series. You need a new calendar, anyway: Winter – and the start of a new year – is coming.
