Our stories help us to understand ourselves and our capacity. Human beings have a huge untapped and undiscovered capacity to do what we think is impossible. Perhaps we don't need a vehicle to visit or communicate with other worlds in space. Maybe we can go just with our minds. The point of science fiction or any other storytelling genre, is human expression and ultimately self discovery. Our stories help us to understand ourselves and our capacity. Now we drive fancy cars which would be seen as being magic to our distant forefathers. Who's to say what will happen in 600 years!!
