‘Too Much Magic’: A Not So Shiny, Happy Future

toomuchmagicA lot of things come to mind when I think about the future: a glorious melding of man and artificial intelligence, the colonization of the solar system, among them. It’s practically part of the creed as a science fiction fan. But what if technological progress isn’t going to be part of our future for much longer? What happens if instead of moving forward we start to slip back into time? Are you ready for a retro-future existence that looks a lot more like Little House on the Prairie than Star Trek? Science fiction novelist, non-fiction author and social critic James Howard Kunstler (Too Much Magic) says it’s coming, and as a matter of fact, it may have already begun.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Kunstler in my role as the host of the DisinfoCast podcast, and thought that Suvudu readers might appreciate hearing about an altogether different kind of future than what we may envision. Check it out here.
