Unless you’ve actually been to San Diego Comic Con, it’s hard to understand how difficult it can to get into the near-mythical Hall H. That’s the place where all of the big stuff happen: the creme de la creme of fandom. Want to see superstar actors gabbing live and in person about their new projects? Go to Hall H. Legendary comic book creators? Go to Hall H. The director of that really big event film coming out next month? Go. To. Hall. H.
Sounds simple, right? “Well, let’s head on over,” I can hear you saying. Unfortunately, there are a few thousand other very dedicated men, women and children who are more than willing to wait for hours…days even…to see the same panel you want to. Imagine getting out of the door at 5:00 AM to queue up for your 10:00 AM panel only to see hundreds already waiting in lawn chairs and even sleeping bags. And they’ve been there since last week. That’s what waiting for admission to Hall H is like.
While I’m not patient enough to wait for much of anything these days, I remain extremely interested in the motivations of those who are willing to do so. On the first full day of SDCC I visited the line for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 to find out more.
