“I hope I can protect the one thing I can’t live without.”
Tony Stark. Such an intriguing character. In the Marvel Universe, Iron Man really is the closest thing we have to Bruce Wayne and Batman. Tony isn’t a superhero. Not in the conventional sense. He wears a suit of armor that gives him amazing abilities. Tony and Bruce Wayne both came to the protector role from the gravest of psychological responsibilities and the vehicle that allows them to succeed in that role comes from their financial wealth. They can build toys to facilitate the heroic.
This trailer for Iron Man 3 highlights an interesting question: What would happen to Tony Stark if that ability to build technology is taken from him?
Here it is:
I have to say, that is one great trailer. It’s dark. It’s moody. It puts our favorite characters into direct conflict with one of the preeminent badasses in the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley is one of the best actors out there and I can’t wait to see him turn his talent to evil). The trailer references the event in New York, obviously a nod to The Avengers, which I feel to be one of the best comic book movies of all time. And we have Robert Downey, Jr. reprising the role he was born to play.
I only post movie trailers I’m excited about. While Iron Man 2 lacked that indefinable something the first movie possessed, I have hope that Iron Man 3 will be a return to glory.
What do you think of the trailer?
May 19, 2013 can’t come quick enough!
