Badass Comic Book Cover: Superior Spider-Man #5

Every week, I’ll be bringing you a comic book cover that I feel eclipses others out there—to the point I might just have to own it!

The BadAss Comic Book Cover for this week is for Superior Spider-Man #5. The superior Spider-Man has been your friendly neighborhood crime-fighter. Or has he? Ever since Otto Octavius took over the body of Peter Parker, the webslinger hasn’t been the same. Even with Peter’s memories and moralities, just enough of Otto’s immorality seeps through, creating an interesting dichotomy within the Spider-Man suit. In this issue, “Peter Parker” is given a weapon to end the life of a mass murdered. Is that the great responsibility that Uncle Ben spoke of?

Why do I love this cover though? The symmetry. There is nothing like a bullet hole tearing through webbing. Especially when that webbing could have captured a villain and Spider-Man, willing to stop murder, decides to kill the assailant to prevent the death of hundreds of people. Peter Parker would never do it. Even Batman wouldn’t do that. Yet the piece of art suggest a great conflict for one of the most iconic superheroes of all time.
