I am a super fan of what Marvel has accomplished with their movie direction in the last five years, particularly in their Avengers set of stories. Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 2—all culminating in one of the best superhero movies ever with The Avengers.
Marvel isn’t waiting. They are moving while the iron is hot. We have two post-Avengers movies coming out this year. Iron Man 3 enters movie theaters May 3rd. And now, Thor: The Dark World in November!
Here is a bit more about Thor: The Dark World:
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Today, the first trailer from Thor: The Dark World hit the internet(s)! You can watch it up above. It’s a bit darker than I thought it would be but I’m very okay with that. The principle characters and their actors have returned. And more importantly, it seems to be asking some weighty questions about cultures, how they exist together, and what one is willing to do to make it work.
What are your thoughts on the teaser trailer?
