Asteroid Named for Late Science Fiction Author Iain Banks


iain-banks-1Science fiction fandom lost one of its brightest lights last month with the death of Iain Banks, creator of the “Culture” series, among other fantastic books. One of his fans, José Luis Galache, a scientist employed by the International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center, has chosen to honor Banks by naming an asteroid in his honor.
