George R.R. Martin Responds To Letter From Thirteen Year-Old Fan

You may recall that George R.R. Martin reached out to his fans last month to ask them to donate to a wolf sanctuary in New Mexico. One of the incentives he offered was to name two characters in his next novel after the two most generous donors (minimum $200,000 and up), and then have the [...]

The Force is Strong With This One: Meet Teacher and ‘Star Wars’ Fan Brian Dennert

PpscqOYMeet high school history teacher and major Star Wars fan Brian Denner, whose school ID photos have become something of a legend online. Denner’s latest proves that just because you’re a grown man you can’t be a beautiful young “Princess” for a day, and just because you’re a teacher you don’t have to say goodbye to your inner child. After I stopped laughing (approvingly) at Denner dressed as Princess Leia, I knew I had to find him and talk with him:

What’s That? Just Darth Vader Jogging Death Valley

darth-vader-124991The Force (or maybe The Crazy?) is strong with this one:

Wild-man runner Jonathan Rice wanted to spice up his exercise routine, so in 2010 he started a new tradition: A one-mile run through Death Valley clothed in a Darth Vader costume. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? Running an entire mile wearing a full head mask, black clothing and a cape in 129 degrees Fahrenheit? I thought running in my home state where the temperature regularly hits 100 F was bad enough, and I wear shorts and running shoes. I’m a big Star Wars fan, but there are limits to my devotion!

From Reddit: ‘A Dwarf’s Perspective on Tyrion Lannister’

Redditor FaceofMoe has written what a must-read perspective on A Song of Ice and Fire’s Imp, Tyrion Lannister. FaceofMoe is a dwarf and is more qualified than most to comment on the veracity of Tyrion’s experience. (I understand that the term “dwarf” can be potentially offensive to some, but I’m quoting FaceofMoe and feel that [...]

Woman Seeks Robb Stark Look-Alike for Targaryen/Stark Merger

MTV Geek brings us this most unusual story: A New Orleans woman with her own replica of the Iron Throne (it’s around $30K, so that’s not peanuts), is now hoping to – um – break it in with one lucky (?) Robb Stark lookalike. In an ad at Craigslist, the mystery woman lays out a [...]
