Next Big Movie Franchise Part IV: Finding a Director for Jim Butcher’s ‘Dead Beat’

Dead_BeatReturn with me now to make-believe movie mogul land: A place we’ve inhabited together over the last three weeks. We started on January 6 when I asked you what the next big movie franchise based on a science fiction or fantasy novel/series might be. Our readers nominated about a dozen titles. In part two, I narrowed down these titles to a handful of the most popular and asked you to vote for your favorite. Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden series won hands down. There just wasn’t much competition. In part three, I asked readers to select the Harry Dresden book that they thought might make the best movie. Votes came pouring in, but it was Dead Beat that came in a winner, and it did so by a landslide. Today, I’d like for you to pick out a director for our pretend movie, but first, let’s take a look at Dead Beat and see what we’ve got to work with. (I know that ideally we’d talk about a scriptwriter, but for the sake of all of our sanity let’s assume that we have a quality script already in hand.)
