It’s never too late to go back and catch up on horror classic. If you’re looking for something bizarre and quirky, look no further than John Carpenter’s 1988 film, They Live.
We’ve got your first look at the first trailer for The Thing, a prequel to the 1982 film of the same name. Hewing closely to the original story, the prequel will depict the chain of horrific incidences that led the alien life form to the first film’s protagonists, starting with its discovery by Norwegian researchers.

John Carpenter’s They Live, a cult film originally released in 1988, has gone on to grow a considerable cult following in the decades since its release. Pro-wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper stars as “Nada,” a down on his luck, blue-collar everyman whose accidental discovery of a pair of magic sunglasses reveals hidden collusion between human society’s elite and a race of alien overseers.
Novelist Jonathan Lethem tackles this entertaining but sometimes frustrating film in a lively and frank manner in They Live, the first volume of Soft Skull Press’ new Deep Focus series.
